MiP is accelerating its growth! Sinyopto Optoelectronics presents the latest Micro LED technology insights.

Experts say: Display Guide

On May 18, the "2022 Industry Leaders on LED Display Innovation Applications and Mini RGB Commercialization Conference" was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Shenzhen International Convention & Exhibition Center. Over 600 industry leaders, experts, scholars, and professional buyers from display industry sectors across China gathered in Shenzhen to discuss the sector's key challenges and pain points—and collectively explore the future trajectory of LED display technology.

During the event, industry experts announced that it was jointly produced by Xingjia and Guoxing Optoelectronics, along with 26 leading companies—including Sinyopto Optoelectronics—that collectively contributed to its development. "2022 Small-Pitch and Micro-Pitch Display Research White Paper" Turn on.

Qiao Hui believes that currently, direct-display technology is primarily used in commercial and specialized applications. However, Micro LED technology will accelerate the adoption of direct displays in the consumer market, including smart wearables, televisions, and automotive displays.

Speech Summary:

1. The industry has multiple definitions for Micro LED; currently, the industry-recommended definition is: Chip area ≤ 5000 µm², substrate-free.

2. Recently, both end-user applications and the supply chain have been accelerating their investment strategies in the Micro LED market. As the LED display market continues to expand, Micro LED is poised to gradually replace consumer-grade panels, automotive displays, and public information displays, among other applications. Estimated to boost output by 30 to 40 billion.

3. The industrialization trend of Micro LED: As the pixel pitch decreases, the proportion of LED chips in the overall screen cost increases significantly, while the cost of LED chips themselves also rises in tandem with the LED beads. Therefore, as the pitch continues to shrink, the primary cost of the display will increasingly shift toward the chips.

4. Currently, Micro LED still faces numerous challenges, including low yield rates in mass transfer, difficulties in optoelectronic testing, high precision requirements for wiring, challenges in achieving both high contrast and consistent color performance across wide viewing angles, significant hurdles in realizing full-color RGB displays, and high maintenance costs associated with COB/COG solutions.

5. In response to the industry's current challenges, Sinyopto has proposed MiP Integrated Packaging (Micro LED in Package) Proposal: MiP technology features the following characteristics:

① High substrate precision: Capable of accommodating Micro LEDs with a Gap < 18 µm;

②. The chips do not require test screening; testing and sorting are completed during the packaging stage.

②. Point testing has shifted from chip-level complexity to pin-level point testing, significantly reducing the testing difficulty.

③. Employing mass transfer technology to achieve a balance between efficiency and cost.

6. Sinyopto Optoelectronics has launched its Micro LED product line, the Xintu XT series, which boasts features such as high brightness, superior black levels, wide viewing angles with no color shift, exceptional brightness uniformity, and outstanding color reproduction. The series also utilizes a common cathode driver design and comes in a package that is less than half the thickness of conventional Mini LED modules. Additionally, Sinyopto plans to introduce the XT series P0.1 product by the end of 2023.
